1. Efficiency controls – there are many energy-saving controls now readily available
2. Programmers – control the time when the heating system is running, or heat different areas at different times.
3. Boiler Interlocks – prevent boiler "recycling" when there is no demand for heat.
4. Thermostats – control overall temperature of water or heating, and they can be programmable to set different temperatures at different times of the day.
5. Condensing appliances – recover heat from the flue gases, normally wasted through the flue
6. Thermostatic radiator valves control individual room temperature – they're cheap to install and ideal for rooms not used all the time, or rooms that do not require a high temperature
